AUMIDISynth vs. AUSampler

I've been trying to figure out what the differences between the two AudioUnits are.
AUMIDISynth documentation appears to have been scrubbed from the developer documentation!
Can anyone give me some general direction, or better yet, a pointer to the official documentation for AUMIDISynth?
